Yes, you read correctly. Live streaming is the content of the future!
Right now it's May of 2020 during the COVID-19 global pandemic. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the lives of millions of people. Not only because of the fear of catching the virus or the millions of lost jobs but also because of the new realization to marketers and business owners that live streaming has become a more lucrative way to market to their customers. For this reason, I have written a short article on how I think that live streaming is becoming a more consumed form of content and how its the content of the future!
In November of 2008 YouTube offered its first live stream for fans to watch concerts. Since then live streaming is much more prevalent in our society. It gives consumers the chance to connect with their favorite artists, influencer, and each other. In my opinion, now is the time for businesses to familiarizing themselves with this tool to use it to their advantage.
Here are a few stats that I found on 99firms.com
80% of consumers would rather watch a live video than read a blog.
Video streaming is expected to account for 82% of all Internet traffic in 2020.
Consumers are 39% more likely to share video content.
42% of the US population live-streamed online content in 2018.
Millennials are the largest consumers and creators of live video.
Facebook Live is the most commonly listed platform for live video consumption.
60% of the 100 most popular YouTube live streams happened in the past 2 years.
The above stats are crazy! If you are a marketer, entrepreneur, small or large business owner, or even a content creator trying to grow, you must stay on top of marketing trends. Sure looks like live streaming is trending.
Not only are you able to allow your customers/followers to see what goes on behind the scenes or ask you questions about your product, but it also gives your current and potential customers the opportunity to put a face behind the brand.
